The club was founded by a group of British immigrants in 1909, and it is commonly accepted that the name pays homage to Everton FC, as the Merseyside club enjoyed a successful spell during that period.
Everton are considered one of the top six Chilean clubs, due to their league success and passionate fanbase. Championship winners in 2008 and Chilean Cup runners-up in 2016, the Ruleteros also became the only team in Chile’s history to qualify for the Copa Libertadores with the first team, women’s team and youth team in 2019.
